DeLaina has been involved in education since 1991. Prior to coming to Mountain Heights Academy, DeLaina taught high school French and Spanish, and worked as an instructional designer in Upper Arlington, Ohio. She is a 2014 “Best of State – Principal” winner and was named as one of Utah Business’s “30 Women to Watch.” She is currently pursuing a PhD in Instructional Psychology and Technology at Brigham Young University, her initial alma mater, where she earned a BA in French and Spanish Teaching. She also holds a Master of Arts from the Ohio State University.

Sarah has worked in secondary education for 18 years, as a teacher, administrator, and curriculum designer. She is a graduate of Brigham Young University, holding a BA in Mathematics Education and earned her M Ed from Western Governors University. She has built 17 semester courses using Open Educational Resources (OER) and currently oversees all course development and teacher training on building with OER. Sarah was awarded Utah Charter Educator of the Year in 2010; the first online educator to receive the award. Mountain Heights Academy was also privileged to be awarded 2011, 2013, and 2014 Best of State in Curriculum Development.  In 2015, Mountain Heights won Open Education Excellence Award for Outstanding Site and Outstanding Courses.

Emily Andersen(801) 725-3360 •

Emily Andersen is a graduate of Brigham Young University in English and History and is currently working on her Master’s in Educational Administration at Southern Utah University. She has taught English and History in many venues–private school, public district and online charter. Emily is a writer. She has developed, written, and published several volumes of Language Arts curriculum and wants to publish her own novel someday.

Whisper started with Mountain Heights Academy in 2011. She has a strong background in customer service, operations, events, and international logistics, with an emphasis in the health and wellness industry. Whisper brings a wealth of business experience with her that she is excited to share with Mountain Heights Academy.

Carmen recently retired from Salt Lake County after 25 years of service. During that time she worked in the Sheriff’s office as a word processor and at the District Attorney’s office as a receptionist, legal secretary, and paralegal. She received her Paralegal Certificate in 1990 from the University of Phoenix.
