Kathryn Abbot graduated from Brigham Young University in 2012 with a B.S. in Teaching Social Science and a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. She has worked as a substitute teacher throughout Utah Valley for two years and worked as an ESL instructor for adults through Internexus Language School. Kathryn enjoys reading non-fiction, keeping up on her Spanish skills, running half marathons, and doing yoga.
Jenn graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in History and a minor in English. She went on to receive her Master’s in Teaching and Education from Azusa Pacific University and began her teaching career in California. She taught social science for eight years in California and most recently served as the Activities Director and Leadership Adviser for over 3,300 students at her school. For the past seven years , Jenn has developed and led humanitarian trips for the Forever Young Foundation to Ghana, Africa where she assists in the improvement and development of several rural schools.

Laura Bishop graduated from Brigham Young University holding a Bachelor’s degree in Technology and Engineering Education. She believes that growing up in an art-based community (New Orleans, Louisiana) has sparked her creativity and love for art and design. However, teaching is her greatest passion and she enjoys helping others, especially when it comes to technology. She currently resides in Salt Lake City with her husband and spends her free time being with friends and family, hiking, going to Zumba classes at the gym, traveling, and playing tennis.
Missy attended BYU and graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Language Arts. She earned a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix in 2009. She has experience teaching secondary English, social studies, and elective courses, as well as upper elementary core subjects. Additionally, she has completed Montessori training for differentiated and individualized learning. Missy and her husband run a locally based nonprofit aimed at helping people with mental health and/or addiction issues, and last year they awarded significant scholarships to local programs.
Jenny Dawman graduated from Arizona State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and an emphasis in English Literature. She earned her Master of Arts in Education for Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. She has lived in Utah since 2008. Jenny has worked with special need students at Aviano Air Base, Italy, and taught high school English in Goodyear, Arizona. Additionally, she has completed internships in differing reading improvement classrooms.
Amberlee graduated with her B.S. degree from Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah; majoring in Theatre Arts, Special Education and Secondary Education with a minor in Sociology. She also earned an M.S. degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University and is currently licensed as an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor, working in private practice. Amberlee loves teaching for Mountain Heights Academy and being a part of such an innovative and engaging learning environment where the focus really is on the individual student.

Lindsey Fairbanks graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Health Education and minor in Spanish Teaching in 2007 and a Master’s of Education in 2010. She taught Health, Spanish, P.E., Student Leadership, and School to Careers classes at two different charter high schools in Utah before joining the Mountain Heights Academy team. Lora Gibbons received her BS from Brigham Young University in Biology Composite Teaching, with a minor in Physical Education and Coaching. Lora’s experience includes teaching Eighth Grade Science, Biology, Physical Science, Ecology, and Anatomy and Physiology. Lora is bilingual in Spanish and loves teaching and regularly volunteers in her children’s elementary classes to teach hands-on science.
