Laura Bishop graduated from Brigham Young University holding a Bachelor’s degree in Technology and Engineering Education. She believes that growing up in an art-based community (New Orleans, Louisiana) has sparked her creativity and love for art and design. However, teaching is her greatest passion and she enjoys helping others, especially when it comes to technology. She currently resides in Salt Lake City with her husband and spends her free time being with friends and family, hiking, going to Zumba classes at the gym, traveling, and playing tennis.

Lindsey Fairbanks

Lindsey Fairbanks graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Health Education and minor in Spanish Teaching in 2007 and a Master’s of Education in 2010. She taught Health, Spanish, P.E., Student Leadership, and School to Careers classes at two different charter high schools in Utah before joining the Mountain Heights Academy team. Lindsey loves working at MHA in such an innovative and student-focused environment.

Katie Hackett is originally from Wrightwood, California. She earned a music scholarship on the French horn and attended Brigham Young University-Idaho where she graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor Degree in Music Education. Katie has experience with teaching various music courses including general music, music appreciation, band, choir, and orchestra. Outside of teaching, Katie spends time with her family, teaches private music lessons, and runs a photography business. Katie and her husband enjoy spend a lot of family time together with their children on the weekends.

Shanna Haws considers herself to be a Family and Consumer Scientist; this field is her passion! She graduated from Utah State University in 2011 with her FACS degree and loves the Aggies. Her motto in teaching is, “I love what I teach,  but more importantly I love who I teach.” She hopes that each student who takes any of her classes has a clear understanding of that. During her career as an educator she has taught Clothing, Foods, Pro Start, Fashion, Interior Design, and been the advisor for the world’s best club FCCLA. In addition to teaching she loves good food, fun people, great design, and her wonderful family.

Tahna graduated from Utah State University in 2006 with a Master’s of Education degree in Deaf Education and Elementary Education. She taught deaf children at the Jean Massieu School of the Deaf (under Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind) in Salt Lake City for 4 years. She also taught American Sign Language at American Fork High School. Tahna spent a summer in Ghana, Africa doing a Humanitarian Service Project, where she helped teach students at the Mampong School of the Deaf and Blind, gave sign language instruction to the teachers, and helped develop an educational reading program.

Chelse Shaum

Chelse Shaum attended school at BYU Hawaii and BYU Idaho where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and Secondary Education. She taught photography and graphic design at Weber High before joining the team at Mountain Heights Academy. She enjoys being creative in all aspects of her life and pulls much of her creativity from her passions for the outdoors. Chelse spends her time traveling and adventuring outdoors with her husband and son, as well as creating art in her spare time.

Emily Tate graduated from Brigham Young University in 2008. She earned her BS in Health Education and a minor in Physical Education. She had the opportunity to coach basketball and volleyball while teaching her first four years. Emily enjoys being involved and interacting with the studentbody and contributing her creativity to activities. Emily loves watching and playing sports, cooking, cleaning/organizing, traveling, and being with people.

Ashley Webb is a graduate of Brigham Young University, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Technology and Engineering Education. She holds Utah teaching endorsements in Multimedia, Commercial Art, Commercial Photography, IC3/Computer Technology, & Technology and Engineering Education (CTE/General). Ashley was awarded the Utah Coalition for Education Technology (UCET) Outstanding Young Educator of the Year in 2013, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Emerging Leader in 2013, and the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) silver medal for Best Practices in Distance Learning in 2014.

Michael Wiechmann is a graduate of Minnesota State University in Mankato. He has a B.A. from Bethany Lutheran College with a Studio Art degree. He is licensed to teach K-12 art. Michael enjoys a variety of outdoor activities; he loves to incorporate these experiences into the art studio and classroom. Michael is an active artist, working on commissions consistently for a variety of patrons. He has taken part in forty-six art shows, as well as three solo shows. His art can be seen at http://wiechmannart.com/.
