A message from Mrs. Jenni Wurm

Dear Parents,

Many of you may not have had contact with me yet, but I am Jenni Wurm, your student’s School Guidance Counselor. I am sending out an email to all students regarding the BYU Independent Study classes. Some of this information may apply to your student, and some may not. However, please read through it carefully.

*First of all, if any of you have still not registered for your BYU elective classes, please contact me immediately. I will register for you! Remember that you need to be taking 6 classes total in order to be on track for graduation. That includes your classes in BrainHoney, your BYU classes, or any classes you may be taking at your local school. Seminary, or Release Time, does not count towards those 6 classes. If you and I have spoken about this and have made other arrangements, then disregard this portion of the email.

*Second, if any of you have registered for your BYU classes, but have not yet been able to access them, please contact me. I will be able to give you your access codes so that you can begin.

*Third, please remember that the deadline for your BYU classes to be completed is the end of first semester, January 13. You should complete your BYU classes by then in order to begin your new classes for second semester. Please plan accordingly so that you don’t leave it all until the end, and then are scrambling to finish. Do yourself a favor and work on it now so that you aren’t cramming it in over Winter Break!

*Finally, several of you have wondered about how to contact your BYU teachers. Due to the high volume of students, BYU does not give out the email addresses of the teachers. However, you can send an email to indstudy@byu.edu, and they will forward it to your teacher. In the email, you must state your name, the name of the class, your access code for the class, and the name of the teacher. Then you can ask your questions. They will forward it to your teacher, and you should hear back from them.

Please contact me if you have questions or concerns about any of the above, including credits for graduation. I will be going over each student’s transcript during your SEOP (Student Educational Occupational Plan) conference this year. We will then discuss your individual concerns and make sure you are on track to graduate.

Thank you,

Jenni Wurm
